ASCII Logo Guidelines

Occasionally the issue of how to properly write our company name comes up.

Obviously, if you’re writing it out, it is “Collective Idea” - two words, with a space. Camel-case (“CollectiveIdea”) or underscored (“collective_idea”) are not appropriate. Additionally, the abbreviation “CI” is not used. Use the ASCII logo as a shortened form instead.

If you would like to use the ASCII logo, you may use the following:

[i]

As these ASCII characters also valid Unicode codepoints, you may use UTF-8 encoding:

  1. LEFT SQUARE BRACKET (U+005B)
  2. LATIN SMALL LETTER I (U+0069)
  3. RIGHT SQUARE BRACKET (U+005D)

Additionally, you may place the ASCII logo to the left side of the company name:

[i] Collective Idea

Ensure that this representation is left-justified and there is a single space between the mark and the words.

If you have a graphic interface, using the actual logo is recommended. Please see the forthcoming Graphical Logo Guidelines.

Though I’d probably wreck my car using it, @[i] seems like a pretty cool Twitter handle if it were legal.
